How to clear the Microsoft Monitoring Agent's cache

In some cases, the SCOM Microsoft Monitoring Agent's cache becomes stale and causes it to display unexpected behavior. This article shows how to resolve this issue by clearing the cache.

1. Clearing the cache by making use of the Operations Console (SCOM console)

For Agents:

Goto Monitoring-> OperationsManager-> Agent Details-> Agent Health State -> Select particular agent & from task pane click on "Flush Health Service State and Cache"

For SCOM Management Server:

Goto Monitoring-> OperationsManager-> Management Server-> Management Server State -> Select MS & from task pane click on "Flush Health Service State and Cache"

2. Clearing the cache manually

 - Stop Microsoft Monitoring Agent Service for agent or MS for which you want to flush or clear cache.
 - Go to the SCOM server installation directory and rename folder "Health Service State"
 - Start Microsoft Monitoring Agent Service.

By doing this, agent or MS re-loads the configuration.
