Remove a server from the VMware resource pool

Goal

Remove a SCOM management server or gateway server from the VMware resource pool, so it no longer runs any VMware monitoring workload.

Prerequisites

• Access to the Administration workspace in the SCOM Operations Console.
• At least one other server stays in the resource pool to take over the workload.

Steps

Step 1: Open the resource pool

1. In the Operations Console, go to Administration > Resource Pools.
2. Right-click the VMware resource pool and click Properties.

Step 2: Remove the member

1. Go to Pool Membership.
2. Select the server you want to remove.
3. Click Remove, above the member list on the right.
4. Click Next and save.

Step 3: Update the license assignments

1. Open the OpsLogix VMware MP Configuration dashboard and go to the Assign tab.
2. Clear and re-select any host.
3. Click Update.

Step 4: Uninstall the collector

1. In the Monitoring workspace, open the Collector view.
2. Select the collector on the server you removed.
3. Run the uninstall task from the Tasks pane.

Verify it worked

The server is no longer listed under Pool Membership, and the OpsLogix VMware Collector is uninstalled from it. The server no longer handles any VMware monitoring workload.
