KB: Test Connection is failing with Error code -1 Value cannot be null

You just updated the Oracle management pack with the latest release and during a connection test you get this error.

Problem

You run a Test Connection in the "Oracle IMP Configuration Dashboard" and get error code -1 "Value cannot be null".

Cause

The SCOM console is still using the old version of the Oracle configuration dashboard from its cache.

Solution

1. Close the SCOM console.

2. Open the Windows Services console on the SCOM management server the console connects to, and restart the service "System Center Data Access Service".

3. Wait one minute, open the SCOM console again and retry the Test Connection.

If the Test Connection still fails, check that the Opslogix Oracle Collector is installed on the resource pool members. See the article "Troubleshooting: Collector service not deployed or no Oracle instances monitored".
