A capacity report can run without errors and still show nothing useful: no rows at all, or rows without a date. This article lists the causes, from the most to the least common.
The report has no rows
| Cause | How to check | Fix |
| The rule does not collect data for the selected objects | In the Monitoring workspace, open a Performance view for one of the servers and look for the counter. | Choose the rule that collects the counter for these objects, or enable it with an override. |
| The entity filter matches nothing | Filter managed entities (contains, comma-separated) searches the server and object names. | Clear the filter, or use a shorter part of the name. Separate several texts with commas, for example WEB01, SQL03. |
| The group has no members that the rule collects for | Heat map, profile and Group Selector reports use the members of the groups you add, and the disks and other objects hosted on them. | Add a group of servers, or the servers themselves. |
| The period has no data | From sets how much history is used. | Use From = 90 days back. New rules and new servers only appear after the data warehouse has aggregated their data; Daily average uses the daily aggregates, so expect up to a day. |
| Wrong report for the counter | The rule is missing from the Performance Rule list of a Percentage report. | Percentage reports list only rules that measure a percentage until you type a rule filter. Use the Absolute value report for counters such as Free Megabytes, or type part of the rule name in Filter Rule DisplayName. |
The row has no forecast date
| What the Forecast column says | Meaning | What to do |
| Insufficient history: n of 14 daily points | The forecast needs at least 14 days with data. | Wait until there is enough data, or move From further back. |
| Not reaching 80 % used on the current trend | The trend is flat or moving away from the threshold. | Nothing, unless the counter measures free space and Reverse forecast direction is off: then switch it on. |
| Reaches 80 % used in more than 2 years | The date is beyond the forecast horizon. | Nothing to do for now. |
| No date in an Absolute value report | No Planning threshold is set. | Enter the threshold in the counter's own unit, for example 20480 for 20 GB of a Free Megabytes counter. |

- No License Found: see Capacity reports show "No License Found".
- Forecast failed: <message> or an rsErrorExecutingCommand error: see Capacity reports show rsErrorExecutingCommand or "Forecast failed".
- Check the data under a forecast: the data is stale (nothing in the last two days), has gaps, or the trend is weak. The date is less reliable; look at the chart before you act on it.
