A key component of DevOps is continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD). Code changes are automatically built, tested, and deployed to production. Our consultants are under the program trained to be familiar with CI/CD tools and how to set up Pipelines / Releases and Test plans in Azure DevOps.

DevOps relies heavily on cloud technologies, so it's essential to understand them well. During the training, our consultants deep dive into Microsoft Azure, and also gets a basic understanding of other popular solutions such as RedHat Openshift. 

Cloud solutions usually include containers and container orchestration, therefore the program also includes an introduction to technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.

Automation is another key element of DevOps. During the program the consultants will learn to automate tasks such as tests, builds, releases and deployments. The training is mostly in Azure DevOps but also includes an introduction to tools such as Puppet, Chef, Terraform and Ansible.

To troubleshoot problems and prevent them from happening in the first place, ability to monitor systems effectively is necessary. This means having a good understanding of monitoring tools and logging systems. The program includes an introduction to tools like System Center Operations Manager, Azure Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, but also open source tools like Prometheus and Thanos.

DevOps is often associated with Linux, and therefore the program includes an introduction to basic Linux skills.

Many organizations build their applications on top of Microsoft technologies that usually includes Windows components. Because of this, good knowledge about Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory is key. During the program, consultants will be guided through different components within the Microsoft family.

DevOps is all about improving communication and collaboration between different teams, which calls for fundamental networking skills. Ability to communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds and understand various networking protocols is included in the program.

To be a successful DevOps engineer you should be able to understand and develop code. As DevOps is centered around automation, most of the tasks included will be done using some type of programming or scripting lanugage. The program includes working with languages such as C#, PowerShell, XML, JSON and YAML. The work is mainly done in Visual Studio Code and Visual Studio.

At OpsLogix we consider documentation key for delivering value to our customers and to share knowledge within the organization. During the program, consultants will work with Markdown for documentation, wikis and automated builds of documentation.

To successfully develop and maintain code while at the same time collaborating in a efficient way, GIT repositories can be used inside of Azure DevOps. After the program, consultants will have deep knowledge of working with repositories, branches, Pull Requests, and how to connect Pipelines for automation.

DevOps and Agile planning is something that we at OpsLogix love. We use Scrum on a daily basis. During the program, consultants will get familiar with configuring projects, and planning projects with Sprints, Epics, Features and Backlogs.
